Scholarly Editions of Early Music
I build the editions I wish I had.
My scholarly performance editions are designed to enhance the music, save you time in rehearsal, and provide a reliable source that represents the composer’s intent through a clear, modern notational lens. Each score is prepared with performers in mind, balancing historical accuracy with practical clarity so you can focus on music-making rather than correcting the edition.

-
All editions are prepared directly from primary source materials. Manuscripts and early prints are carefully compared to avoid the accumulated errors that often appear in later reprints, ensuring a dependable musical text.
-
Every modern intervention is documented. Detailed editorial notes explain how the music has been transcribed into modern notation, including decisions related to ficta, text underlay, meter, and barring. When sources disagree, those discrepancies are clearly noted so you know exactly what you are performing.
-
These editions are created by an active choral conductor and scholar to reduce rehearsal friction. Clear notation, consistent underlay, and intentional editorial decisions are meant to support efficient rehearsal and confident performance.

If you would like to commission a scholarly performance edition for an upcoming program, I would love to work with you. Commissioned projects involve full source review, editorial commentary, and preparation of a clear, rehearsal ready score tailored to your ensemble. My goal is always the same: to provide a reliable edition that saves you time and serves the music.
